What’s it all about?

The Summer Reading Club is about reading and writing for fun and pleasure. Every summer holidays, the State Library of Queensland runs a Summer Reading Club for children and their families. This year, the Summer Reading Club is going to the circus!

Last year more than 8,500 Queensland participants enjoyed the program, reading more than 40,000 books, improving their reading skills and winning great prizes along the way.

The Summer Reading Club has two parts:

1. Library Activities

Visit the State Library of Queensland or your local public library where you and your child can participate in free fun games, activities and workshops for children during the summer holidays. To keep your child reading over the holidays you can borrow a wide range of books, magazines and audio books from your local public library.

2. The Summer Reading Club website

The website has lots of games, puzzles, quizzes and competitions to enter. Children are invited to complete authors’ stories, write book raves, showcase their artwork on the e-gallery and chat online with Anna Fienberg and Terry Denton in December and January.

Win! To get the most from the Club, your child should register at your local public library or online. Every child registered goes into the draw to win some great prizes.
Entries are now closed for Summer Reading Club 2008-09. Remember to register next year!
